Culver City City Council unanimously approved the Wende Museum‘s proposal for a Creative Community Center at 10858 Culver Boulevard, also known as ‘the building next door.’

A dynamic and diverse community like Culver City deserves a hub to match, and the Wende Museum is thrilled that local nonprofit organizations like the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum, United States Veterans’ Artist Alliance, Upward Bound House, the Artistic Freedom Initiative, and the Wende will activate this first-of-its-kind space. The Creative Community Center’s formation was guided by the vision of Glorya Kaufman, a legendary patron of the performing arts whose foundation will also underwrite the expansion of the Wende campus and ensure that all programs will continue to be offered free of charge.

Designed by AUX Architecture, the Center will include a theater, a demonstration garden, art space for veterans, 100% affordable housing for artists, and a dedicated place for students of the Culver City Unified School District. The Wende Museum is immensely grateful to the Culver City community and City Council for supporting this vision of the Creative Community Center. Watch this space for updates as construction is planned to begin later this winter.
